This long-term residency is specifically designed to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to environmental conservation.

Recognizing Exceptional Environmental Contributions

The Blue Residency visa will be awarded to those who have demonstrated exceptional efforts in environmental protection and sustainability, both within the UAE and globally. This initiative underscores the UAE’s commitment to fostering a sustainable future.

Who Can Apply for the Blue Residency?

The eligibility criteria for the Blue Residency visa are comprehensive. Potential recipients include:

  • Members of international environmental companies, associations, and NGOs.
  • Global award winners recognized for their contributions to environmental action.

Leadership and Vision for Sustainability

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, highlighted the interconnectedness of economic and environmental sustainability during a recent Cabinet meeting. He emphasized that the sustainability of the UAE’s economy is inherently linked to the sustainability of its environment.

Year of Sustainability and Beyond

The introduction of the Blue Residency visa is a part of the UAE’s broader initiative to celebrate 2024 as the Year of Sustainability. This campaign was extended due to the success and enthusiasm generated by last year’s green initiatives, which encouraged residents to adopt sustainable practices.

Expanding Residency Options

Traditionally, the UAE has offered two-year residency visas. However, the introduction of long-term residency programs marks a significant shift. In 2019, the UAE launched the Golden Visas program, providing 10-year residency to investors, entrepreneurs, scientists, exceptional students, and humanitarian pioneers. Following this, in 2022, the UAE introduced the Green Visas, offering five-year residency to skilled professionals, freelancers, investors, and entrepreneurs.

The Blue Residency visa represents the UAE’s forward-thinking approach to environmental sustainability and long-term residency. By attracting global environmental leaders and recognizing their contributions, the UAE continues to solidify its position as a leader in sustainable development.Contact us
